Films on Thursdays

The Nicollet County Historical Society and Saint Peter Community and Family Education present their 16th season of documentary films! The public is welcome to attend these free films at the Treaty Site History Center.

The Typist

Larry Tillemans of St. Joseph, MN is featured in the film, which chronicles his experience as a WWII serviceman who participated in the Nuremberg Trials of Nazi criminals. After years of carrying this emotional burden, Larry decided to share his experiences with as many people as possible, a tireless effort that brought the value of first-person testimony to a world that sometimes struggles to remember the lessons of the past.

Thu., Feb. 6, 2 p.m., Treaty Site History Center, FREE.

On Eagle’s Wings: Minnesota’s Sacred Music

This one-hour documentary explores the dramatic shift in sacred music, beginning in the 1960s, when major Christian religions attempted to reach out to engage the congregation. Minnesota is home to a significant number of highly accomplished songwriters and musicians who have helped bring new music to many faiths. Featuring Father Michael Joncas, composer of “On Eagle’s Wings.”

Thu., Mar. 6, 2 p.m., Treaty Site History Center, FREE.
